1965 four-track stereo, 7 ½ ips, ¼" reel-to-reel. The album features a combination of Mexican-influenced music and jazz-pop, and is known for its iconic album cover featuring a model covered in whipped cream. The album was a huge commercial success, becoming the group's best-selling album and one of the best-selling instrumental albums of all time. It also earned the group four Grammy nominations, winning one for Best Engineered Recording, Non-Classical. The album's success was due in part to Alpert's innovative production techniques, which included using multiple layers of overdubbing and incorporating unusual instruments such as a marimba, bass harmonica, and electric guitar. The album's title track, "Whipped Cream," became a hit single and went on to be used in numerous films and TV shows, as well as being sampled in modern music. The album cover has since become a cultural icon.
